Anemoscope system, how does it work?

Wind speed is monitored by an anemometer & dogvane similar to weather monitoring stations. The controller uses this information to manage the turbine furling in all wind conditions. The turbine head is motorised and can rotate through 360 degrees.

As wind speeds increase the rotation speed is controlled by rotating the head to 30 degrees, 60 degrees and finally if wind speeds increase further the head turns to 90 deg off the wind to slow blade speed.

The turbines are designed to withstand up to 100 mph winds. The system can also be controlled manually if required.

What are the advantages?

The advantages over conventional furling systems using electro-mechanical braking, jointed sprung blades or tails is there is simply less to go wrong.

The rotating head uses a concealed motor with a worm drive. No need for gearboxes or electro mechanical braking systems.

Fixed fibre glass blades are stronger and lighter than steel and have better durability, requiring less maintenance and resulting in higher efficiency and quieter running.

Battery bank

Battery systems use maintenance free modern long life battery banks which means that energy can be stored for use at peak times making them ideal for UPS and 24/7 power backups for stand alone generator systems cutting payback times significantly.

On Grid installations do not require batteries.

Warranty

24 month manufacturers warranty, 12 month installation warranty.

Certification

All systems have CE approval under machinery directive 98/37/EC and the Low Voltage
Directive 73/23/EEC
